Dallas enters 2026-27 as a playoff hopeful built around a veteran-rookie blend rather than a true centerpiece star. With Luka gone to the Lakers in February 2025 and Anthony Davis moved to Washington shortly after, the Mavericks now lean on Kyrie Irving's veteran shot-making, Klay Thompson's floor spacing, P.J. Washington's two-way versatility and rookie Cooper Flagg's day-one impact. The depth chart still has playmaking and two-way ability, and in a healthy season this group can make noise as a low-seed / play-in team in the West. Front-office priorities: extend Flagg's runway, manage Kyrie's age, and figure out whether to flip aging vets for futures or push for one more competitive run.
